Frank is a full-time Assistant lecturer at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania and serves as the Secretary-General of the Western Indian Ocean Early Career Scientists Network (WIO-ECSN), a youth-led network under The Western Indian Ocean Marine Association (WIOMSA). Frank is a member of Black in Marine Sciences (BIMS) from Africa, A Tidal wave fellow cohort 2023/2024, Tidal wave mentor 2024/2025, a Co-founder of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance Hub in Zanzibar and outreach programs for early career researchers in the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) Region.
As a marine ecologist, Frank specializes in the ecology, management, and conservation of threatened and endangered marine megafauna, including sea turtles, dolphins, and sharks. Moreover, Frank is an appointed steering member of Global Ocean Knowledge Action Network (Ocean KAN) 2024-2026. In addition to his academic work, Frank is actively involved in climate dialogues on loss and damage in Africa and is committed to raising awareness about the impact of deep-sea mining in Africa. He engages in ocean literacy programs for secondary school students in WIO and is a marine blogger, ocean science communicator, storyteller, ethical dolphin trainer and a co-oordinator of the UN Ocean Decade Booklet for Africa. Frank is a passionate advocate for early-career ocean professionals (ECOPs), using his platform to champion capacity building, youth inclusion, and equal opportunities for people of color and less-represented groups in the protection of our oceans. He strives to be a voice, not an echo, in the fight for a more sustainable and inclusive future for youth in Ocean Sciences. |
